Easiest Way to Reduce High CPU Usage on Terminal Servers
In a Terminal Server environment with a bunch of users each running several applications, what happens when one instance of an application ends up consuming a lot of CPU resources? What's the impact? If the user had been running this application on his desktop, it would have only slowed down his other applications. In a terminal server environment where the server resources are shared, this one application instance impacts all the other users. The server becomes unresponsive. Use Microsoft Remote Desktop from a Mac with CoRD
Mac OS X is very capable when it comes to controlling remote computers. If the other computers are Macs, then using the built-in Screen Sharing for systems connected locally works very well, and using screen sharing in iChat works great for remote users. If you want to control other systems, Screen Sharing will also work with VNC, as will a number of other OS X VNC clients.

VMware vSphere 4.0, Hyper-Threading, and Terminal Services
I recently wrote a blog article detailing Hyper-Threading (HT) and its effect on vSphere. An astute reader pointed out, a recent update to Project VRC’s terminal services analysis suggests disappointment with HT on vSphere. We spent a lot of time looking at those results to understand why they contradicted the body of performance data, which show HT offering 10-30% gain on vSphere. What we discovered led us to create a vSphere patch that would allow users to improve performance in some benchmarking environments.
